It's funny how you can travel the world
looking for stories on ultralight aviation and totally miss something
that is happening in your own backyard! That was the case with a story
about a group of Sutton High School students building a Murphy Maverick
in a course set up by the school to do just that.
The purpose of these
flights was to lay the groundwork for the re-establishment of
migratory bird routes for endangered species such as the Whooping
crane. Currently there is only 1 flock of 183 birds left in the
world! Joe and Bill are using the experience gained from
raising and leading the geese, to aid conservationists in
establishing another flock.
For those
looking for a set of plans to build a hangar to
protect an ultralight - the people at LAPS look to
have just what you need. The "UV Shelter" is
estimated to cost in the $2,000 U.S. to produce.
