KITFOX
SERVICE LETTER # 7
SUBJECT:
WING TANK FUEL CAPS
TO:
ALL KITFOX OWNERS WITH OPTIONAL WING TANKS
FROM:
DENNEY AEROCRAFT COMPANY
WING
TANK FUEL CAPS:
When flying the KITFOX with fuel in the wing tanks, the low pressure area
at the top of the wing causes enough of a vacuum in the tank to prohibit
gravity feed at cruise speed. We installed a 1 1/2” high ram-air
“pitot” tube on the top of the fuel cap to alleviate this problem. We
will add this modification to your fuel cap; but, since the filler neck
was welded in without any particular placement of stops, we must have you
send back the cap with the forward direction marked.
Install
the fuel cap on the wing tank, making sure the cap is on tight.
Mark an arrow with a felt-tip pen pointing exactly forward on the cap.
This will enable us to weld the ram-air tube in the exact forward position
so it will function properly. We will make this modification at no charge
to you except for shipping and handling.
