In order to install a trim tab, a section of the trailing edge of the RH elevator was removed and provisions made to accept the trim tab and it's piano hinge.

tab sm.jpg

A trim tab was constructed of urethane foam and glass cloth. An aluminum strip is embedded within the trim tab, to provide a place to rivet the control horn and hinge.

The trim tab is shown attached to the elevator with the aluminum piano hinge. The control horn isn't visible here, as it's located on the bottom of the trim tab

Here you see both the elevator and rudder trim tabs installed in their respective locations. I preferred to incorporate the tabs into the control surfaces, rather than add them to the trailing edges.

To control the trim tabs, I constructed a "vernier" type controller. It uses "traveling blocks", moving along handwheel actuated SS threaded rod, to actuate the SS "push-pull" wires, which run in Bowden type cable housing. An engraved, black plastic faceplate, with indicator marks, will be attached

The stock throttle levers were replaced with some that I fabricated out of misc. "stuff" I had on hand. The throttle knobs were turned from Delrin rod, as was the knob on the kickstand control lever.
