RiteAngle 2000 stall warning indicator.

What is the RiteAngle 2000?Rite-angle2000letter.jpg (95190 bytes)

According to the designer the system " accurately determines your aircraft’s angle of attack". It does this by monitoring the relative air entering a wind vane mounted on your ultralight. This then sends a message to a sensor that displays the angle in a series of lights on "display."

The " RiteAngle™ 2000 LEDs display the angle you select, not the angle determined by the system manufacturer.   Each LED is independently set to the exact angle you wish it to illuminate. This eliminates the need for excessive LEDs. When correctly installed and calibrated, higher angle of attacks are indicated with more illuminated LEDs than lower angle of attacks. "

It was interesting to watch as this was demonstrated using a "model plane" mounted on a board, as the angle of attack increased the lights on the monitor increased in number and brightness.

The Rite Angle 2000, will also incorporate an audio warning, which can be routed to a pilots helmet and intercom.

The warranty on the Rite Angle 2000 is  1 year unlimited and 3 year limited.

The complete RiteAngle™ 2000  system consists of the following components:

·        Ultra-bright, full sunlight visible, wide angle LEDs auto dimming to the brightness required from night to full direct sun.

·        Simple push button set-up

·        Calibration “keypad” which is unplugged and removed after simple in flight calibration

·        Vane of preformed injection molded polymer

·        Voice audio stall warning

·        Display module

·        20 million rotation life sensor in use for over 3 years

·        Logic module mounted behind instrument panel, out of sight

·        Specialized wiring included (Aircraft wiring to vane and flaps sensors not furnished)

  LEDs

EM aviation consultant Bill Lang of Interface Displays, Inc. outlines the benefits of RiteAngle™ 2000 LEDs below:

1.     “Solid state high reliability—average life is 100,000 hours vs. 10,000 (10:1)

2.     Low power consumption

3.     Able to withstand shock & vibration much better than a Tungsten Filament Lamp or Electro-Mechanical .

4.     Compact package size with variety of colors available

5.     Reduced weight

Interface Displays, Inc is changing most designs to LED illumination because of these mentioned benefits.   Currently, it is being used on major airframes with new designs.”

Display

The display is surface mounted to the instrument panel. The space required is 1.0” wide and 2.4” high. The RiteAngle™ 2000  system supports two displays, if required for a tandem aircraft. Each display independently dims as necessary.

Calibration

RiteAngle™ 2000 employs a simple-to-use color-coded “push button” calibration system with Voice assistance.  No unusual in-flight maneuvers required.

Flaps

Flap option is required for aircraft with flaps.  (See options link) For each of the flap positions simply repeat the “flaps up” calibration of pilot-set LEDs.

Pitot/Static System and the RiteAngle™ 2000

The RiteAngle™ 2000  is completely separate from the pitot static system. If a break in the pitot or static system line occurs, it will not affect the RiteAngle™, nor will a failure in RiteAngle™ affect the pitot/static system as in other systems.

Back-up System

For a entirely separate back-up AOA system, add a small 12V Gel Cell battery or (8 AA pen cells).  RiteAngle™ 2000 has an automatic switchover which switches to the back up battery in case of aircraft electrical system failures.
