We could learn a lot from crayons... some are sharp, some are pretty, some are dull, some have weird names, and all are different colors... but they all have to learn to live in the same box.

Sea Hawk amphibious ultralight

Sea Hawk amphibious trike.

Y2Fly LLC - SeaHawk The new "Sea Hawk" trike is a 2 place fully amphibious trike unit constructed of reinforced fiberglass.  "The Sea Hawk is a purpose built unit." "built from the ground up to be an amphibious trike"

The "trimaran float design" which features a large center float and two smaller "outriggers" is designed specifically for water operation. "This design eliminates water problems associated with adapting floats onto trikes, the pilot, passenger and prop are protected from the water" via the use of the trimaran floats, spray rails, splash pans.

"Dive planes" help bring the nose of the craft up in case of slight nose down landing, or taxing in rough water. A clutch system is standard on the 582 Rotax using an E box. This allows pilots to safely taxi in the water, without having the prop pushing the craft along. Another feature is a full time water rudder located at the rear and center of the craft.

The use of fiberglass and stainless steel components allow the Sea Hawk to be used in salt water.

The Sea Hawk uses a 16.8 meter, certified Wizard wing to give the best performance for take off and cruise. With two on board the craft stalls at 30 mph and cruises along at 55 mph.

The unit is equipped with all three wheels retractable, actuated by one manual lever. "Thanks to its innovative design the Sea Hawk is not affected by cross winds as are many other float plane designs, and stability and control on the water is far superior to conventional floats. The pilot can fly with a lower engine RPM setting than conventional floats due to a carefully thought out very aerodynamic design which allows for lower engine RPMs, lower fuel consumption with greater cruise speed."

In land mode all three wheels have braking and the aircraft feels just like any other land based trike in steering control. The empty weight of this amphibious trike without wing is 341-363 lbs. depending on what engine is chosen.
