Kolb Kolbra tandem seating ultralight trainer, tandem seating light sport aircraft

The New Kolb Aircraft company introduced the Kolbra and King Kolbra at Airventure. The Kolbra series uses the wing design of the Mark III series.

The Kolbra come in two kits, the airframe kit which includes all the materials required to build the wings, tail, control surfaces, fuselage tube, welded steel parts for wings and tail, pre-built wing ribs, upper and lower wing false ribs, streamlined lift struts, all the aircraft hardware, cables, turn buckles, thimbles, nicopress sleeves safety pins, plans, and construction manual.

Kolb aircrafts KolbraThe second kit includes the welded 4130 chome-moly steel fuselage cage,4130 steel control parts, landing gear legs, axles, wheels, tires, seats, 4 point harnesses, fuel tank, fuel line, filter, clamps, fiberglass nose fairing and windshield.

Power is supplied from the  65hp Rotax 582 or in the case of the King Kolbra the 80hp Jabiru engine.

The Kolbra was built to fill the need, for a two place trainer with dual controls, in a tandem seating arrangement. Thus pilots and owners of aircraft like the Kolb Firefly and Firestar will feel right at home while training in the Kolbra and then moving into their own craft.

"The Kolbra's 6" spar wings and 6" fuselage are built to take the kind of abuse a trainer might be expected to see.  The landing gear legs are chrome-moly for high strength.  At less than  496 pounds with the Rotax 582, the Kolbra falls under FAR part 103 for training."

The King Kolbra can also be build in the experimental category which will allow the use of  the Jabiru engine and large tundra tires. Rugged steel gear and short takeoff and landing distances, make it the perfect craft for getting in an out of short field back yard strips. The cockpit is fully enclosed but the rear The Kolb King Kolbrawindows may be opened in flight.

As with all Kolb aircraft, the Kolbra has folding wings for portability, large wing area, sturdy construction, and great visibility.

Currently expected delivery times are 6 weeks for kits and 8-12 weeks for ready to fly craft available from Lite Speed Aviation.
