For over two decades ultralight pilots around the world have relied on
the people from Comtronics engineering for helmets, intercoms and headsets
for use in their ultralights. Comtronics originally entered the
ultralight market with their Pro Com series of helmets. It's primary
purposes were for pilot ear protection, and in the event of an
accident protection for the pilots head. Then
as two place ultralight trainers entered the market, and the need for
dependable, communication between instructor and student became necessary
Comtronics introduced their ULTRA-PRO STD
ultralight helmet and intercom box.
In
recent years they have added the ULTRA-PRO 2000. Both systems feature
superior noise-attenuation, large speakers with- noise cancelling
microphone, & first quality connectors. The basic
difference between the two systems is that the Ultra-Pro std. has flip up
ear muffs while the Ultra-pro 200 has fixed muffs encompassed with a
strap, which allows the pilot to tighten the muffs down more for added
noise reduction. Early in 2000 a specialized helmet for
"Trike" pilots was introduced .
This helmet is specifically designed for trike pilots needing a full-face
helmet to shield them from the airstream while flying their machines.
The integrated clear polycarbonate face shield may be rotated up while on
the ground and can be flipped down for flight. It comes with
communication system fully installed.
Audio equipment includes the military M/87 AIC microphone and Hi-Fi
speakers. A coil cord is included and terminated with the standard
nickel-plated 1/4" plug used or all of our systems.
 For
pilots wanting a more "military" look and feel Comptronics has
their AERO-PRO 500 Fiberglass ultralight helmet with a military style
slide visor. All of the Comtronics helmet's and their
integrated audio system are compatible with all Comtronics intercoms,
interface cables (patch cords) and accessories. ULTRA- TRIKE helmets can
be purchased without audio, if desired, and can be customized with your
own audio system. Early in 2001 Comtronics will be introducing their new
"surface mount" intercom box. This unit which is currently in
prototype stage will eliminated the current "hand wired"
technology used in the current intercoms. This will give better service,
be more reliable and quieter than the current boxes. One of the unique
features is that the box will allow pilots to adjust the ambient noise,
for more comfort and better communications. For more information
