PROTECTING YOUR ULTRALIGHT AIRCRAFT PROPELLER

Propeller  protection for ultralights and ultralight aircraft. The Ultra-Prop by Competition Aircraft is one of the most durable composite propellers that I have ever flown on. The prop has been on the market for over 30 years. The Ultra Prop comes in blade lengths up to 59 inches, is adjustable and is available in 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 blade combinations. It is ideal for aircraft like the Buccaneer Amphibian, or Aventura or other ultralight float planes as it handles water without any problem. In four blade combinations I have even run two blades at a higher pitch than the other two to get the best performance out on my plane. A problem that I can report with it is that the prop spinner has a tendency to come off the prop unexpectedly, and while all the blades are suppose to be the same weight, I have had some that are quite a bit out off. Another reported problem the backing off of the prop bolts. This might be due to the unique harmonics that the prop produces. While the prop is literally indestructible, and one of the best buys on the market for an ultralight propeller, my tests show that it is not as efficient as some of the newer ground adjustable props on the market.
